Hometown: Blue Bell, Pa.

High School: La Salle

Grade School: Saint Helena, Blue Bell

 

2009-10: Stroked the Drexel pair team that earned a gold medal finish at the Dad Vail Regatta winning the Bob Negaard Cup…also stroked the pair to a second place finish at the Knecht Cup…rowed seven seat in the second varsity eight that claimed first place in the Murphy Cup. 

2008-09: Spent time in both the second varsity eight and the varsity lightweight four in his second season…rowed in the two seat of Drexel’s varsity lightweight four to a fourth-place finish at grand finals at Dad Vail.  

2007-08: Rowed stroke in novice eight boat at Navy Day, Shore Boys and Frostbite Regattas.

Background: Four-year lightweight rower at La Salle...rowed stroke for heavyweight eight in first ever gold medal at Navy Day Regatta...twice named Second Team All-Catholic.  

Personal: Son of Sean and Joan O’Neill...majoring in mechanical engineering.

SHS Grad Jack Leonard

 

Jack Leonard ’06,  Graduated from Princeton last week and was awarded “The William Winston Roper Trophy” which is awarded to the TOP Male Athlete at Princeton University.  The award reads to: To the Princeton Senior man of high scholastic rank and outstanding qualities of sportsmanship and general Proficiency in athletics.

This was massive for Jack and pretty big time for Princeton lightweight rowing as well.  No lightweight has won the award in its 80+ years.  Also the local paper did a big article on Jack.  Here is the link which highlights his accomplishments.

The last race, IRA’s,  the article mentions happened this past Saturday which Jack and his boat did indeed win the Gold. Here is the news release on that race which Jack is quoted in.
