Welcome to a new school year. I am looking forward to working with your child and helping them reach their potential. Religion
6B Blest Are We We will focus on the Bible especially the Old Testament, Mary and prayer life. Later in the school year we will begin preparation for Confirmation. More information on this will follow.
8R and 8T Blest Are We We will focus on the History of the Church, saints and holy people of the Church and our prayer life.
7G Blest Are We We will focus on the Life of Jesus and how to follow Him in our own life. We will also study holy people of the Church and prayer life.
7G ILA
Vocabulary Unit of words given bi-weekly, work completed independently and in small groups.
Writing Grammar, Compositions and Poetry expressed in different forms
Reading Classroom novels, stories from Anthologies and book reports
Classroom novels: 1.Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan 2.Downriver by Will Hobbs 3. Crispin: The Cross of Lead by Avi
Book Reports 2 independent books read for each trimester (A list of book choices have been given to your child)
Homework
Homework is given each day except Friday. It can be found on the St. Helena Website and in your child’s assignment book. All missed homework must be completed within a reasonable time upon the child’s return to school. This time will be determined by teacher, parent and child. Incomplete assignments will result in a lowered homework grade.
Grades
Grades will be based on major test, quizzes (average out to major test), projects, homework, preparation and participation in class
