Important Reminders for May 14-18, 2012 and Upcoming Events:

  • Wednesday is the May Fair; children may dress down; if your child did not order special lunch, please send in a full lunch
  • There is no school on Thursday, May 17 for Ascension Thursday and Friday, May 18 for a school holiday
  • There is a whole school liturgy on Tuesday, May 22at 9:00; all are welcome to attend
  • There is no school on Friday, May 25; this is a day from "no snow days"
  • There is no school on Monday, May 28; Memorial Day
  • Looking ahead: Father's Day celebration is Friday, June 1 at 11:00 in the cafeteria and our closing program is Wednesday, June 6 at 10:30 in the Rec Center

Child of the Week Schedule

On Monday of your child’s week please send in the poster. On Wednesday the child of the week will bring in a show-n-tell (two rules: 1. has to fit in their backpack, 2: cannot be alive). On Friday the child of the week will bring in a favorite book for me to read at Morning Message.

Chapter 12: Model Subtraction

Objectives:

  • Model subtraction as taking away from or separating.

  • Use concrete objects to solve subtraction problems.

  • Use the minus sign (-) to show subtraction.

  • Use concrete objects and pictures to show ways to subtract from 4 and 5.

  • Use concrete objects and pictures to show ways to subtract from 6.

  • Use concrete objects and pictures to show ways to subtract from 7.

  • Use concrete objects and pictures to show ways to subtract from 8.

  • Use concrete objects and pictures to show ways to subtract from 9.

  • Use the strategy of guess and check to subtract from 7, 8, and 9.

Chapter 14: Jesus Gathers Friends

Objectives:

  • Understand that Jesus is a friend who welcomes new friends.

  • Deepen their awareness of Jesus' friendship.

  • Understand that as friends of Jesus they gather on Sunday to give thanks to God.

  • Better appreciate that they are friends of Jesus who gather to thank God.
