Mrs. Nancy Manno, Librarian
WELCOME BACK TO A NEW YEAR IN LIBRARY!
All the students from Kindergarten through Eighth grade attend classes on a weekly basis. We emphasize the enjoyment of reading and develop library and research skills. Kindergarten- Second grade have story time, which is always exciting. They start to learn fiction vs. non-fiction, parts of a book, comprehension and listening skills, and Caldecott and Newbery awards. Third grade- Eighth grade learn to research by using reference materials. They use dictionaries, thesauri, atlas', and the internet. They learn about the "Dewey Decimal System," how it was devised by Mr. Melvil Dewey to organize the non-fiction books in categories in the library. Creativity is emphasized in their research. I am always available to assist the children in their checking out a book, and researching. We are going to have a Great year in Library!

Each Birthday Book given is a great source of excitement and pride for the child whose name and birth date are inscribed inside, and interest in the book becomes contagious. If you would like to contribute a book in honor of your child, please purchase a hardback book of their liking and send it to my attention. The Birthday Books will be displayed in a special section of the library. You may also donate a book for any other relative's birthday, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa etc. If you have any questions please contact me @ 610-279-3345, or nmanno@sainthelenaschool.org. ____________________________________________________________________________ Birthday Book Request Form Please return with donated book Child's Name :________________ Grade :_________________ Birthday: ___________________
