Week of February 6th, 2012 Please keep in mind that we will go outside every day! Please dress your children accordingly. This week we continue with our theme: Animals Everywhere! This week we will learn more about animals. Using the topic "Animals on Land and Sea," we will read stories about animal families from around the world. Our letter of the week is "Zz." Our personality of the week is Giovanni Merone. Our family of the week is the Everard family. We are learning the Sign of the Cross, the Our Father, the Hail Mary and Grace Before Meals. We are also learning the days of the week, the months of the year, the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner. We continue to learn our addresses and phone numbers. Please reinforce this at home! In math this week we will use our skills to guess what is the animal? We will also continue practicing sorting and estimating and sorting numerals. In centers this week we will practice writing the letter "Zz". In science we will reinforce the children's understanding of living and nonliving things as we create a living and nonliving foldable. In art we will create our own "pearly whites" as we learn about proper dental care. In our journals we will draw a picture of something that is living or nonliving and label it. In religion this week we will learn how David teaches us to pray. Based on Samuel 16:11-13, Psalm 51:3, Psalm 118:1, Psalm 136:1-3, Psalm 145 We continue to have fun sorting and making patterns with our "Take Home Jar." Our sight word reader this week is: Fly Away. Our new sight words are will and fly. Our sight words to date are: I, see, me, too, up, down, ride, on, you, and, like, to, will and fly. Tuesday is library and a visit from Charm Dentistry, Wednesday is gym class, Friday we will watch the kindergarten play. Books we will be reading this week: Animal Babies, The Ocean Is...., Who's in Rabbit's House?, Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too?, Ocean Babies, Kitten's First Full Moon, What Do You Do With a Tail Like This?, Where is Bear?, Inside Mouse, Outside Mouse, Castles, Caves, and Honeycombs, Each Living Thing If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!
