ART EXPRESS
2011-2012
Art Express is an in-class, volunteer-run art program designed to teach age-appropriate techniques and stimulate student appreciation for art. Each student is encouraged to express his/her self through these art projects and we focus on technique and learning vs. finished product. Each Grade Curriculum includes lessons plans that any volunteer should be able to teach. What Kinds of Projects Are Done? Depending on grade level, projects include both 2 and 3 dimensional design. Techniques such as drawing, painting, cutting, tracing, pasting, printmaking and sculpting are included. Media such as pencil, pen, ink, pastels, crayon, markers, acrylics, watercolors, clay, paper and found objects are integrated. Concepts such as light, shadow, contrast, tone, depth, color wheel, perspective, textures, and proportions are addressed in age-appropriate lessons. How Can Parents See the Work? After each session, the work is hung in the cafeteria or outside of the art room. After that, the work is stored and brought out for the Spring Arts Show. At the end of the year, the children will bring home their "portfolios" for you to enjoy. We will also feature the work on this page so come back often! Volunteer Resources Below Lesson Plans: Any volunteer should be able to run the lessons included in links below. A laptop and projector are available in the art room to show web resources, photos and step by step lessons.
