Required Summer Math Assignments:

  • If your child does not recall how to do specific problems, there are tutorials on IXL. Click on “Watch a video” or “Learn with an Example” which appear at the top of each skill’s page.
    • This consists of 4 – 6 weeks of skills for a total of 20 – 25 IXL skills (depending on the grade level).
    • Students may complete the skills in any order they wish. Students may do more than one skill in a day.
    • A score of 90 or above SmartScore is required for each skill. Once you reach at least a 90 SmartScore, you may move on to the next skill.
    • This is a graded summer assignment. It will count as a quiz grade.
    • This is due by 9/9/26.
  • How to access: Sign in with your User ID and Password. In the search bar, your child should enter the three digit code of the skill (from the list sent home) he/she would like to complete that day.
  • Please note that students who are brand new to the program entering 5th, 6th, and 7th grades received an additional assignment on top of the IXL Checklist to prepare for the upcoming school year.

Recommended Summer Workbooks:

A few parents asked me for summer math workbook suggestions. These are completely optional, but I do recommend the two below.

  • Summer Solutions Workbook Please choose the STANDARDS-BASED book for the grade that your child just completed as a review of topics covered in the previous year. If you are looking for more of a challenge, you can choose the grade into which you child is going in September. The book costs $16.99 plus $3.99 shipping. These are also available on Amazon for more money.
  • The Ultimate IXL Summer Math Workbook (for all grade levels) is available on Amazon for $13 – $17 depending on grade level. You can choose the student’s current grade level for review, or the next grade level for a challenge.
