Sunday, September 24, is the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy. A blessed day for everyone who has ever been the recipient of God’s tender Mercy! A great feast for the Sisters of Mercy.
Our foundress, Catherine McAuley, wrote a beautiful prayer which is dear to the hearts of all her Sisters, this author prays it several times on any given day. Catherine’s Suscipe, her beliefs and resignation is here for your reflection:
My God, I am yours for time and eternity.
Teach me to cast myself entirely
into the arms of your loving Providence
with a lively, unlimited confidence in your compassionate, tender pity.
Grant, O most merciful Redeemer,
That whatever you ordain or permit may be acceptable to me.
Take from my heart all painful anxiety;
let nothing sadden me but sin,
nothing delight me but the hope of coming to the possession of You
my God and my all, in your everlasting kingdom. Amen.

And speaking of trusting in God’s loving providence … several people were interviewed for the long term substitute position of Computer Teacher … for some it seemed an overwhelming task, for one, another full time position became available – this author had just prayed Catherine’s Suscipe when who appeared in the principal’s office – none other than Mr. George Gillin! Our retired computer teacher – when it was mentioned that we were still seeking a long term sub, his immediate reaction,
“NO – I LOVE BEING RETIRED”

However, in a matter of minutes, his response was, “If you really get stuck, I’ll do it.” Within the hour, a phone call came with this response, “YES, I will do it!” And so with grateful, merciful hearts, we welcome Mr. George Gillin back! A true answer to prayer! Everyone is delighted that “Bingo Bob” is back!
